Yesterday I spoke with a client, Julie, who is an author and a designer and she was telling me what had been holding her back from hiring a personal brand photographer to capture her personal brand photos.
What she told me was a bit surprising!
You see, I thought she’d say that the expense was the reason but, actually, that wasn’t really it.
Julie is writing her second book and her literary agent told her that she needs to increase her following on her social media channels if she wants this book to be successful.
She needs to be SEEN online so that people know about her and her message before they will feel good about promoting her second book.
You see, Julie’s social media consists mostly of her design work and not really much that showcases her and her brand. Really, what has been holding her back from taking this step is that she wasn’t sure where to focus her time, energy and resources.
She had thought that it was best to post mainly photos of her work but that has not grown her following by much. But what she realized is that it’s all about HER. Her message, her approach, her personality. All of that is missing from her social media and website.
Julie said, “You know, not having professional photos of my brand has been holding me back.”
