The fear of showing up is one that a lot of people have. It’s the fear that prevents people from stepping into their true selves, it stops them from taking risks and being vulnerable. Not only does this stop you from achieving your dreams, but it stops others from receiving the gifts you alone can give them. .
What You Should Know
Deciding to pull the trigger on brand photography can seem daunting. It’s an investment, and you may fear that you won’t “look like you” in your photos. . Plus, there’s all these moving pieces: Location, props, concepts, outfits, etc. It’s enough to make you feel overwhelmed and just keep putting it off.
But, I have a question for you: What’s your vision? You started your journey into entrepreneurship for a reason. What was it, and what are you looking to create with your business moving forward?
There’s always a price to pay in life. And when you choose to show up for your business and your vision, oftentimes that means you’re uncomfortable. It could be a stretch when it comes to finances, or it could even be a stretch to put yourself out there and be the REAL you! .
Your fear of showing up is actually your greatest gift. Don’t let your fear hold you back. Crank it up and make it motivate you!
Showing Up For Yourself and Others
Investing in a photographer can feel scary.
“What if I look awful?”
“What if I just don’t look like me in my photos?
“What if I just wasted a huge chunk of money on pictures that I’m not going to be able to use?”
I get that, and I hear you. And honestly, if your photographer doesn’t take the time to get to know you, your brand AND your vision, that’s a real possibility. But it’s only one possibility.
I’ve been where you are. Investing in yourself on a grand scale takes courage, believing that you’re worth it, and that you CAN do it.In all of the “no” we hear every day as entrepreneurs, we tend to forget that there are other possibilities. Maybe it stems from when you were starting out and your friends and family didn’t understand the vision, so they wrote off your ideas and left you to create it — completely alone. Or, maybe it goes back further to when you were a kid. Everyone has a different story.
But, the one thing I do know is, when you work with me, you get to say YES to yourself. And, it’s not just a “version” of yourself. You get to say yes to you as your most authentic self.
You get to say yes to your business.
You get to say yes to your vision.
And that is exactly how you will create momentum for your brand!
Step Into Your Power and Leadership
In the end, it’s a beautiful thing when you can be yourself and lean into your brand. It shines through in everything that you put out there because you’re committed to serving those who resonate with your message.
The first step is taking action. You can dream all day about what would happen if you were authentic and vulnerable in your business, but you have to step into that space. You want to show up for your vision and be present with yourself, so here’s what you can do:
- Be present. Take a walk, mediate or stand in front of the mirror and just feel what it is you’re feeling at this moment.
- Define your vision. What do you want to create with your business?
- Write out what wouldn’t feel good about having photos taken of yourself and why. This is a great exercise for identifying fears that might be holding you back from the space in which you desire to show up in a bigger way.
- Fear is strong… but you and your vision for your business is stronger! Get grounded in who you are and what you stand for. Get inspired by what you imagine your future to look like, or take inspiration from thought leaders who paved the way for you.
Sometimes we just need something or someone to help guide us. I’m here to serve and encourage you to show up for your vision.

Showing Up As Who You Are
It’s how we show up in the world that counts and this is especially important for leaders, influencers and experts in any space. In the end, it’s amazing what will start to happen as you show up more authentically.
People who are more aligned with your service and expertise begin to show up in your life: your tribe, your fans, your ideal clients AND supporters who want to help you succeed!
You’ll see perfect opportunities because they will become more obvious to you when they show up. Your vibe will change as you naturally put yourself in a space of service to others and from this place with intention, You’ll gain back your excitement and joy in your business because you will feel more comfortable showing up and serving those you are meant to help!
Tips to Get You Started
If you’re still struggling with showing up and coming from a space of service, here are some tips that can help:
- Stick to your word. If you say that you’re going to do something, follow through with it! Don’t make excuses or place blame on why you don’t want to show up authentically. You can’t have it both ways and you can’t keep making false promises about who you are. There is a cost to making excuses, especially if you’re not willing to show up for your business or service.
- Know that everything is ok at the moment. If something doesn’t go as planned while showing up authentically, know that it’s ok and that this is not the end of your world. You can always start over or try again, but see it as an opportunity to learn from what happened.
- Be real with yourself about who you are and where you’re showing up from If you’re not sure if you’re coming from a place of authentic service, ask yourself the following questions:
- Where am I in this?
- How can I show up better?
- What do I need to let go of?
- Who’s voice is speaking for me right now and why?
- Get real with yourself about what you’re feeling . Are you nervous, excited or scared about something that you want to create in your business or in your life? If you don’t know what you’re feeling, ask yourself, “What am I afraid of right now?” and proceed from there. This is a great exercise to do on your own or with a trusted friend.
- Give yourself time and permission to show up differently than before. It takes practice, but allow yourself to build up your confidence. And know that it’s ok if you make some mistakes along the way – no one is perfect. It’s about where you’re at today and whether or not you are willing to show up differently than before.
